About

KnitAgain was founded by Britta Kremke – a familiar name to many in the knitting world.

She has been active in the international yarn scene for many years, has shaped trends with her brands Kremke Soul Wool and BC Garn, made contacts and inspired countless knitters. After selling her company, however, she didn’t want to simply let go of what had accompanied her throughout her professional life: her passion for wool, creativity and community.

So she started to try something new – she learned WordPress, dived back into the digital world and supported her friend Dörte in relaunching the PATTERNY how-to platform, an inspiring, carefully curated how-to platform.

But something was still missing. And this is exactly what gave rise to KnitAgain: the need to use her experience, her network and her feel for the knitting community to support people who want to remain creative despite physical limitations.

How KnitAgain was created

KnitAgain was born out of a very personal moment: it was triggered by a conversation that touched her deeply. A friend who used to be very active in sport was no longer able to move her left arm after brain surgery, was severely disabled and had lost her self-determination – and with it a great deal of her zest for life.

Together, they looked for a way to bring light back into everyday life. And as is so often the case in life, the path led to something very simple and yet so meaningful: handicrafts. They talked about what knitting and crocheting can mean – comfort, expression, creativity, belonging – and what opportunities there are to continue being creative despite physical limitations.

During this search, Britta realized how important needlework is in her own life. And that many people – through illness, accident or simply getting older – run the risk of no longer being able to pursue this beloved hobby at some point.

But when she tried to find information, tools, techniques, exchanges or instructions for knitters with disabilities, it quickly became clear:

There is no central location. No community. No collection of knowledge that could support, comfort or inspire.

The idea for KnitAgain was born out of this gap – and a lot of heart. A place where people with limitations can find new ways to stay creative, a place that encourages, a place that shows: Sometimes something beautiful begins exactly when something difficult happens.

On KnitAgain you will find experience reports, practical help, ergonomic solutions and adapted techniques that can make knitting easier for you. And you’ll find people who understand you. People who support, inspire and motivate each other. A community that says: “We’ll keep going. In our own way.” Because knitting is more than just a hobby. It’s a feeling, a home, a space that doesn’t close just because something has changed in your life.

You are welcome here – with every ability, every pace, every limitation.
