Life over knitting

by Kristy on May 21st, 2012

Well, I had my sweet baby girl April 5, 2012.  Unfortunately she had sever meconium aspiration and spent 16 days in the NICU.   So I obviously haven’t been up for updating much of anything.  She did come home April 21 and she’s doing great.  You really can’t tell she was really sick for the beginning of her life.  It feels like a lifetime ago to me now and yet very recent at the same time.

I have finally been able to knit the last few weeks.  DD prefers to be held or worn in a front carry/sling for most of the day, so for right now it’s pretty easy to knit.  I finally finished my mystery shawl KAL and I finished the surprise Tulip sweater for my sweet friend and her sweet baby girl.  I haven’t blocked my shawl or my DD’s matching tulip sweater, so I don’t have pictures of those yet.

I did get inspired by my knitting friend Jen.  She wrote in her blog that she was doing the Scalene shawl and I love the idea of the keyholes so you can wear it a lot of different ways.

I also started socks for my super talented sister (she’s a writer and really good at it).  Go check out her blog!  You should see what she can do with 100 words!

I’m still really enjoying the idea of knitting all the socks in my Toe Up 2-at-a-Time book (by Melissa Morgan-Oakes) with different sock yarns and reviewing each pattern and yarn along with how well the socks wear.

Random thought – I’ve toying with the idea of learning and using Cat Bordhi’s Sweet Tomato Heel for my socks.

  1. Glad you and baby are doing ok! And, glad I can tempt people with patterns. I haven’t worked on my Scalene in a couple weeks, but I am getting the urge to go back to it. :)
